Strategic Direction and Planning

Here, we provide a sample of strategic planning documents for the Institute and the National Wilderness Preservation System. We include the Wilderness Managers Survey since it was used extensively in the development of the 2014 strategic plan for wilderness, and 2020 Vision: Interagency Stewardship Priorities for America’s National Wilderness Preservation System. Our 2008 ALWRI Research Charter expires in 2022 (extended from 2018). We are currently developing a new charter, which will serve as a 10-year strategic, research plan.
