Background

Mary has a long history with wilderness. She has family members currently employed with the US Park Service, US Forest Service, and the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources. While still in her native West Virginia, she volunteered at the Seneca Rocks Discovery Center and the Sites Homestead National Historic Place. (Both are part of the Spruce Knob- Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area in the Monongahela National Forest.)

After her move to Montana, Mary worked with the Rocky Mountain Research Station Missoula office as a receptionist prior to joining the Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute.
