Background

Debora Cooper is the Associate Regional Director for resource-related programs of the Alaska Region of the National Park Service (NPS). Her programs include natural resources, cultural resources, geographical information systems, realty, planning, environmental compliance and subsistence. Deb has also supervised national parks and preserves of Southwest Alaska including Kenai Fjords, Katmai, and Lake Clark National Parks and Preserves. 

Prior to coming to work for the NPS, Deb worked in an inter-agency capacity as the National Fire Plan Coordinator for the State of Alaska, the Forest Service and DOI agencies. She has been the Area Superintendent for the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and a District Ranger overseeing the Kenai Peninsula portion of the Chugach National Forest. Earlier in her career Deb worked as a field ecologist, wildlife biologist and a botanist on the Bridger-Teton, Klamath and Custer National Forests.
