Assessing High Reliability in the federal Wildland Fire Community

Phase 3. Mapping diffusion mechanisms

Purpose: The final piece of this study is to identify the key routes of diffusion throughout the fire community.

Data collection and sampling: The method of distribution and administration of this survey will be determined by PI's in consultation with the Wildland Fire Lessons Learned Center. The instrument will be designed to be reasonably short to facilitate high response rates across a wide spectrum of community members.

To conduct this, we will explore the potential to use publicly available software such as InfoNet to capture the network and key nodes.

Analysis: We expect to gather network information, possibly via available social network analysis software and/or via a questionnaire.

Results: Results of this final piece of the study will provide specific guidance for the community and the Wildland Fire Lessons Learned Center on which of the various diffusion mechanisms and
